Joker is a collection from Konstantin Chaykin, an independent Russian watchmaker. The line appeared in 2017 and was the first in the Wristmons family. At the heart of the collection is an anthropomorphic dial with joker display. There are no central hands: the time is shown by two rotating discs that serve as the character's eyes. The lower sector reads as a smile, and in the classic layout it holds the moon phase indicator.
The mechanics are modular. Calibre K.07-0 combines an automatic base with a patented in-house joker module with disc indicators for hours and minutes and moon phases. This calibre is fitted in the Joker Fiat Lux Limited Edition, a skeletonised version in a 40 mm titanium case, released as a limited edition of 38 pieces.
Another take on the same idea is the Behrens X Konstantin Chaykin Limited Edition Prototype #0 Black, a joint project with the brand Behrens. This 2023 piece is the prototype of the Chaykin x Behrens Joker. Its 42 mm steel case is coated in black PVD, with a multi-level brown dial under a domed sapphire crystal. Inside is the automatic calibre Behrens BM02, and a retrograde scale has been added to the eye discs.
The choice within the collection comes down to function and case. The Fiat Lux has moon phases, a skeleton movement and lightweight titanium; the Behrens version has a retrograde scale and steel in black PVD. These Joker watches are men's watches, self-winding, with a 38-hour power reserve and sapphire crystal.
