MB&F M.A.D.1

The M.A.D.1 collection consists of MB&F watches released under a separate label, M.A.D.Editions. Founder Maximilian Büsser conceived it as an accessible alternative to the brand's complex horological machines – the Horological Machine and Legacy Machine series. The M.A.D.1 keeps their kinetic aesthetic while opening it up to a much wider circle of independent-design enthusiasts.

The core idea is an inverted automatic movement, which puts the winding rotor on the front. On the M.A.D.1 the rotor has three blades in the shape of MB&F's signature battle-axe, with luminous inserts; made of titanium and tungsten, it spins at the slightest movement of the wrist. The time is not shown by hands on the front: it is read from the side, on rotating cylinders along the edge of the case. The case is stainless steel, topped by a complex domed sapphire crystal.

Within the line, the choice comes down to generation and version. Alongside the original M.A.D.1 there are colour versions such as the M.A.D.1 Blue Edition, M.A.D.1 Green Edition and M.A.D.1 Red, a version created with the artist Yinka Ilori, and the later M.A.D.1S Ice Blue. Straps come in leather, rubber and canvas, with production years from 2023 to 2026.
