Perrelet Double Rotor

ABOUT COLLECTION

Perrelet Double Rotor is the Swiss brand's collection of mechanical watches with a double rotor. The brand is named after Abraham-Louis Perrelet, who invented automatic winding in 1777. Perrelet patented the Double Rotor concept in 1995: an inertia sector is added on the dial side to the movement's working rotor. The result is an automatic movement whose work can be seen from the front – which is the whole point of a Double Rotor watch.

When choosing from the collection, start with case shape and size: they determine how the watch sits on the wrist and slips under a cuff. Then look at the dial – its colour and guilloché, and how the hands and date window work with the sector. With pre-owned watches, condition and completeness of set are decisive.

One example is the Rectangle Royale: a rectangular stainless steel case with a stepped bezel and a blue dial with sunray guilloché radiating from the centre, where the inertia sector sits. Its calibre is built on the Double Rotor concept. Other Perrelet collections, such as Turbine, have their own pages.
