Romain Jerome Moon-DNA

Moon-DNA is the lunar line within Romain Jerome's DNA concept, which combines watchmaking with elements of historic objects — in this case, space exploration. According to the descriptions, the bezel contains an alloy with fragments of the Apollo 11 spacecraft, and the dial contains moon dust. Most of the watches here are the Moon Dust-DNA, a model with a relief dial reproducing the cratered surface of the Moon. The brand's related lines are Titanic-DNA, Moon Invader and Moon Orbiter.

Moon-DNA is recognisable at first glance. Four massive bumpers — "claws" — sit around the bezel, securing the bezel and sapphire crystal and protecting the case. The skeletonised hands carry luminescent coating and on some models are styled after spacecraft components. The small seconds disc at 9 o'clock is designed to resemble a landing module or the sight of a lunar rover. The watches are men's models with 45 and 46 mm cases.

Versions differ in finish. The Moon Dust-DNA comes in stainless steel with rose gold bumpers, and in steel with black PVD coating and carbon-fibre inserts on the bezel. The Black Mood Silver uses the same PVD and carbon. The Steel Mood Ochre is in steel with a dial in ochre and terracotta tones; the others have black and anthracite dials. The collection also includes the Arraw 6919 Ceramic 45 mm in black ceramic with carbon-fibre elements.

The movements are automatic calibres with the RJ prefix. The 46 mm models use the RJ001-A and RJ001-M with a 42-hour power reserve; for the RJ001-A a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour is stated. For the Black Mood Silver, the base movement is given as a Concepto calibre specially modified for Romain Jerome. The Arraw 6919 Ceramic 45 mm uses the RJ-2180 with a moon-phase and date module and a 38-hour power reserve.
