The Urwerk EMC is a line in which a hand-wound Swiss watch gains a built-in system for monitoring its own rate. EMC stands for Electro Mechanical Control. The series is made by the independent brand Urwerk, and the first model appeared in 2013. The idea is that the owner can see how many seconds a day the watch gains or loses, without opening the case.
The electronic part consists of an optical sensor that reads the oscillations of the balance and a generator with a fold-out crank. The result of the measurement is shown on a dedicated precision indicator. The display is divided into four zones: hours and minutes, a seconds scale, the precision indicator and the power reserve indicator. The case is built from complex angular facets, giving the instrument-like look by which the EMC is instantly recognised.
Within the line, versions differ in case material and finish. The first EMC came in a titanium and steel case, followed by the EMC Black and the EMC Time Hunter series. When choosing, look at the case material, dial colour and strap, and for pre-owned pieces also at what is included. The collection includes the Time Hunter Desert Sage Limited Edition from the Time Hunter series.
Each listing gives the condition, what is included, the reference, calibre, case size, power reserve and strap.
