Breitling Exospace B55

ABOUT COLLECTION

Exospace B55 is a collection of connected chronographs from the Swiss brand Breitling, introduced in 2015. It works the opposite way to a smartwatch: the smartphone does not control the watch but serves as an external screen. Setting alarms, timers and the second time zone, or downloading recorded timings, is quicker in the app than scrolling through modes with the crown. The watch itself remains a self-contained measuring instrument and runs without any connection to the phone.

Timekeeping and electronics are handled by the manufacture calibre Breitling B55, a COSC-certified thermocompensated SuperQuartz movement ten times more accurate than a standard quartz movement. The chronograph measures to 1/100 of a second and counts up to 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds. The case is titanium, 46 mm in diameter and 15.25 mm thick, topped by a bidirectional rotating bezel with the brand's signature rider tabs.

The line comes in bracelet and rubber-strap versions, which differ in more than the strap. The Exospace B55 on the Professional Titanium bracelet has a date among its functions; the Exospace B55 Titanium on a blue TwinPro rubber strap replaces the simple date with a perpetual calendar with day of the week. Both share a titanium folding clasp, second time zone, alarm and 24-hour display. These are men's watches.
