Graham Silverstone

ABOUT COLLECTION

Silverstone is Graham's racing line: sports chronographs named after the British Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire. The first British Grand Prix was held there in 1948, and in 1950 the circuit hosted the opening race of the Formula One World Championship; the Luffield model takes its name from one of its corners. Graham itself is an independent watch company with a British name and Swiss production.

The line contains automatic chronographs of two characters. Calibre G1780 is built around a one-minute tourbillon: the carriage is open in an aperture in the dial and visible through the sapphire caseback. Calibre G1721 serves a different set of functions — a flyback chronograph, a second time zone and a big date. The flyback restarts timing with a single push, without the stop–reset–start sequence, and an additional hand shows home time on a 24-hour scale. This is the first decision when choosing: a tourbillon in the dial aperture or a second time scale for travel.

Cases are 47 and 48 mm in stainless steel, with black PVD coating on the dark version; the crystal is sapphire, on some models with anti-reflective coating on both sides. On the Tourbillograph Trackmaster models the bezel is decorated with a Clous de Paris pattern: the pyramid knurling catches the light and hides minor scratches. Dials are black and silver; on the Silverstone Luffield GMT the dial is woven-texture carbon, and the markers and hands are luminescent. A signature detail is the rubber strap with a tyre-tread profile. All are men's sports watches.

The models include the Silverstone Tourbillograph, Tourbillograph Trackmaster, Tourbillograph Trackmaster Black and Silverstone Luffield GMT.
