Harry Winston Ocean

Ocean is the sports line from the jewellery and watch house Harry Winston. It is recognised by its case: three arches rise at the crown, echoing the entrance to the brand's flagship salon on Fifth Avenue in New York. Most models have an off-centre dial: hours and minutes are moved to an offset sub-dial, leaving the free space for a complication.

The main choices are case material and size. The most common material is 18-carat rose gold. There is also 18-carat white gold and Zalium, a patented zirconium-based alloy that is light, corrosion-resistant and hypoallergenic. Case sizes are 36, 42, 42.2 and 44 mm: ladies' models are 36 mm, men's from 42 to 44 mm. The crystal is sapphire throughout.

Within the collection, models differ in their displays. The Ocean Biretrograde Automatic has two retrograde scales. The Ocean Big Date Automatic 42mm shows a large date at the bottom of the dial, the Ocean Moon Phase shows the phase of the moon. The Ocean Dual Time and Dual Time Project Z4 44 mm show a second time zone and a day/night indicator. The chronographs with retrograde counters are the Ocean 3-Retrograde Baguette Chrono and the Premier Ocean Triple Retrograde Chronograph — despite the word Premier in its name, this is an Ocean model, also described as the Ocean Chronograph Retrograde; Harry Winston Premier is a separate collection. The tourbillon of the line is the Ocean Tourbillon Project Z3 Limited Edition. The brand's dedicated tourbillon collection is Histoire de Tourbillon.
