Premier is the first watch collection from the jewellery house Harry Winston, introduced in 1989. It is recognised by the strap attachments at 12 and 6 o'clock: triple arches that echo the entrance to the brand's historic salon on Fifth Avenue in New York. Most Premier watches have a round gold case, round brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel and attachments, and a mother-of-pearl dial under sapphire crystal.
The collection includes several families. The Premier 36mm and Premier Quartz are understated two-hand watches. The Lace models have an openwork dial like lace. The Premier Chronograph has three counters, the Premier Moon Phase 36mm shows moon phases and date, and the Premier Excenter Perpetual Calendar is a perpetual calendar with retrograde indicators. The Premier Automatic Date 18k Yellow Gold is a classic with date and Arabic numerals, and the Speake Marin Tourbillon is a hand-wound tourbillon.
Premier watches are chosen by movement, size and metal. Quartz needs no winding and allows a thinner case; the self-winding Lace models have a sapphire caseback through which the calibre is visible. Case sizes range from 31 to 40 mm, in rose, white or yellow gold. Most models are ladies' watches; the Premier Excenter Perpetual Calendar is unisex and the Speake Marin Tourbillon is a men's watch.
