Big Bang is a collection from the Swiss brand Hublot, presented at the Basel fair in April 2005. It is built on the Art of Fusion: a multi-layer "sandwich" case combines materials that had never been put together before — ceramic, titanium, carbon fibre, gold and rubber. The Big Bang is recognised by its massive bezel held by six H-shaped titanium screws, composite resin side inserts and a strap that continues the line of the case.
Within the collection, the choice is made by movement, size and case material. The classic Big Bang is an automatic chronograph with date, the Big Bang Unico is built on the brand's in-house calibres, and the Big Bang King is a diving model with a rotating bezel. The Aero Bang has a skeletonised dial, the Big Bang Sang Bleu a geometric design by Maxime Plescia-Büchi, the MECA-10 a hand-wound mechanical calibre, and the Big Bang e is a smartwatch with a touch screen. Some models are released as limited editions. Related lines have their own collections: Spirit of Big Bang in a tonneau case, Big Bang Integrated with an integrated bracelet and Square Bang in a square case.
Case materials include ceramic, rose and yellow gold, stainless steel, titanium, carbon and transparent sapphire, as well as combinations of gold and ceramic. Ceramic comes in many colours — black, blue, green, yellow, white and beige, for example. There are men's, ladies' and unisex models, with sports watches in the majority.
