Zenith Defy

Defy is the sports collection from Zenith, the Swiss manufacture in Le Locle. The line appeared in 1969, the same year as the El Primero calibre. The first model, reference A3642, earned the nickname "coffre-fort" — "safe": it had an octagonal stainless steel case, a 14-sided bezel and a steel "ladder" bracelet by Gay Frères. In 2022 the brand released an exact reissue of this watch, the Defy Revival A3642, limited to 250 pieces.

In 2017 the line continued with the Defy El Primero 21 sports chronograph, with a skeletonised dial and a faceted case. The other lines of the collection — Defy Skyline, Defy Extreme, Defy Classic and Defy Xtreme — have their own pages.
