Richard Mille RM 016

ABOUT COLLECTION

The RM 016 is the rectangular line from the Swiss brand Richard Mille, which is better known for its tonneau cases. The RM 016 Automatic Extra Flat marked a turning point in the brand's design: the skeletonised movement, screwed construction and transparency were brought into a slim case. It is around 8.25 mm thick and measures 38 × 49.8 mm, curved to follow the wrist so that it slips under a shirt cuff.

The three-part case is held together with titanium screws, and the caseback is transparent. The Extra Flat uses the automatic RM 005-S calibre, with a baseplate and bridges in black PVD-coated Grade 5 titanium. The variable-geometry rotor is set to the owner's activity to regulate the winding speed; on the Extra Flat Rose Gold it is made of 18-carat white gold. The power reserve is 55 hours.

The Extra Flat comes in white gold (reference RM016 WG) and rose gold (RM016) on a rubber or leather strap; there is also the one-off RM016 White Gold Piece Unique. The choice within the collection starts with case and strap material, followed by condition and completeness of set.
